COVID -19

As with so many clubs and organisations Southend Slot Racing Club suspended its weekly racing night from March 10th, until further notice. This will certainly give most members a chance to 'fettle' their machines and come back stronger than ever.

Sadly, I must report that this awful virus has hit one of the North London slot racers who regularly attend our vintage nights on Fridays. It was with deep sorrow that we learned of the passing of John Secchi, quite early during the pandemic. The club as a whole sends condolences to all John's family and friends. He will be sorely missed at Pound Lane.

The date for the resumption of racing will be shown here as soon as it safe to do so.

We meet every Tuesday night and race two classes per meeting for five nights, then on the six night we race our new class - Racer Sideways Group 5 cars - wherein the races are endurance events lasting 6 mintues per race. The atmosphere is always friendly, helpful and relaxed.

We race many different classes and makes of slot car including Fly, Scalextric, SCX, Slot It, Ninco etc as well as scratchbuilt cars. Some are race tuned whilst others are standard.

THE OTHER CLUB NIGHT

There is currently a revival in vintage slot car racing and we hold meetings on the second Friday of every month. If this is your interest then you can scratchbuild your own or revive those old cars from the 60s and 70s that are probably lost in the loft.

CLUB MEMBERS

Club membership is booming as 2016 gives way to 2017. Here are 11 of the 13 attendees on the first club night of the New Year. Apologies to Tony Avis who seems to have vanished temporarily from the club room.
